Parsha Flashcards - בְּרֵאשִׁית

On the first day of the Creation of the world, HaShem created light (day) and darkness (night).

On the second day, Hashem separated between the upper waters (the sky) and the lower waters (the seas).

On the third day, HaShem created the land, the trees, the flowers, the grass, and everything else that grows from the ground.

On the fourth day, HaShem created the sun, the moon, and the stars.

On the fifth day, HaShem created the insects, the birds and the sea creatures.

On the sixth day, HaShem created all the other animals, as well as Adam and Chava.

The seventh day was Shabbos because HaShem finished His work of creating the world and “rested”.

When the snake convinced Chava to eat from the Eitz haDaas and then Chava convinced Adam to also eat from it, all three were punished:
The snake lost its legs and has to eat the dust.
Chava (all women) have difficulty giving birth and raising their children.
Adam (all men) have to struggle to earn a livelihood.

Hevel brought a beautiful korban to HaShem from his cattle, while Kayin brought a korban of the cheapest fruits and vegetables. HaShem accepted Hevel’s korban but did not accept Kayin’s. Kayin got very angry and killed Hevel.
