This Week in Jewish Unity

5739-1979, at a farbrengen, the Rebbe responded favorably to an initiative to bring unity between Sephardim and Ashkenazim. In this context, the Rebbe described the historic admiration that Ashkenazi Jewish leaders, particularly Chabad Rebbes, had for the great Sephardic scholars such as Maimonides and the Ohr Hachaim. He concluded that unity among Jewish people is a fitting preparation for the ingathering of the exiles, which will take place with the coming of Mashiach.
