Tiny Country

When we look at a map of the world, we notice how tiny Eretz Yisrael is compared to other countries. What is the lesson being taught here?

Although Eretz Yisrael is very small compared to other countries on the map, it contains the greatest kedushah. This is because Kedushah dwells in modest, small places. This is just as Har Sinai, the mountain where the Torah was given, was the lowest of the mountains. Similarly, Moshe Rabbeinu reached the highest level of prophecy, and yet he was the humblest of all people.

The two go together—being humble, small and modest is where kedusha resides. This is because the less a person makes of himself, the more humble he is, the more godliness can rest within him.
