The Torah tells us the great value of a Jewish wife and mother. Besides Chava and the Imahos, there is almost no mention in the Torah of the name of any women. Many, many men are mentioned, but no women. (Netziv). Nobody knows the name of Noach’s wife (except in Chazal) or the wife of Kayin and Hevel, or Shem, Cham, and Yefes, etc. (except for: עָדָה וְצִלָה). And now the Torah elaborates 20 Pesukim to describe the big hassle Avraham Avinu had in burying Sara Imeinu (besides that he ended up paying good money). Hashem brought about this story since every Yid has to know how precious is a Jewish woman.
The Greatness of a Jewish Woman Is Her Disregard for Kavod
And especially Sara Imeinu, upon whom Shlomo HaMelech wrote Eishes Chayil. Chayal means a soldier! And the true soldier is the one who doesn’t care about Kavod and fame. נוֹדָע בַשְעָרִ ים בַעְלָהּ בְשִבְתּוֹ עִם זִקְנֵי אָרֶץ לא כג Her husband is well-known in the Bais Medrash, where he sits among the great Chachomim. She just wants her husband to Shteig. She is selfless. Chazal say that women are special in Gan Eden. By Avimelech and Paroh, all a woman means is Gashmiyus. But by us, in her lifetime: הִנֵּה בָאֹהֶל she is concealed, and only in her Petira (passing on to the next world) her greatness starts shining, like it says: וַתִּשְחַק לְיוֹם אַחֲרוֹן she laughs on the last day. She isn’t interested in Kavod. This is the Yesod of the greatness of Tz'niyus, i.e., no Kavod!
A P’rutza (woman who lacks Tz'niyus) is Kavod crazy, and by us: בִזְכוּת נָשִים צְנוּעוֹת נִגְאַלוּ we were redeemed from Mitzrayim in the Zechus of the Tzniyus'dike women. (Medrash). All a woman says is: כִרְ צוֹנוֹ שֶעָשַֹנִי He made me according to His will; i.e., whatever Hashem wants is good enough for me. This is a true soldier (Eishes Chayil). A soldier guards his country, and a Jewish woman “guards” our purity (Gemara) (and gets rid of undesirables, like Rivka who got rid of Eisav, and Sara who got rid of Yishmael).
