Chazal say that this Passuk is a Remez to those people who are moshail b’yitzram: in control over their desires, who declare: “Come, let’s make a Cheshbon assessing the reward of a Mitzva vs. the cost of sinking to Aveira. This is a most powerful key to become a true Tzaddik. Just make a Cheshbon. Just write down pros and cons of the Mitzvos that you should be doing, and the Aveiros that you need to stop doing.

There are so many issues in Ruchaniyus that we don’t address because we have Yi'ush, or because we don’t know how to start in overcoming our weaknesses. The answer is simple: Just write the Cheshbon! Even without doing anything about it! It has a subtle psychological effect on you, even if you don’t realize it.
