Rashi writes: "We see from this that hatred corrupts the straight line (of dignified conduct), as he saddled it himself. Hashem said, 'You wicked man, Avrohom their forefather already preceded you, as it is stated that he got up early and saddled his donkey (Bereishis 22:3).”
The Kotzker Rebbe zy"a explains that Bilaam wanted to destroy Klal Yisroel with his curses. Hashem was telling him that his plan would fail because Avrohom Avinu also got up early and saddled his donkey to take his son, Yitzchok, to the akeidah. If his plan to slaughter his son had been allowed to play out, that would have meant the destruction of Klal Yisroel. However, just like Hashem didn't allow it to happen then – because He wants Klal Yisroel to last - He won't allow it now either, because He doesn't agree to the destruction of His nation.
