Hashem gives you the money for your children

Pardes Yehuda | December 10, 2025

And it will be, because you will heed these ordinances and keep them and perform, that the Lord, your God, will keep for you the covenant and the kindness that He swore to your forefathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your soil, your grain, your wine, and your oil, the offspring of your cattle and the choice of your flocks, in the land which He swore to your forefathers to give you. You shall be blessed above all peoples: There will be no sterile male or barren female among you or among your livestock.

To explain the connection and the flow in these verses: Hashem is telling Klal Yisrael to heed the Mitzvohs. As a reward, He will bless you with children. Then the Posuk continues with many blessings to your cattle offsprings, and that your fields will give forth good fruits. The reason is: Hashem wants Klal Yisrael to be blessed with children, and to be blessed above all other peoples. Therefore, when we heed the Mitzvohs of Hashem, He would bless Klal Yisrael to be blessed with many children, and there will be no barren females. However, with many children, there comes many expenses. We can look to our generation where non believers argue that they cannot afford to have children. However, Hashem is promising that He will bless you with many children, and with that blessing He will bless your cattle offspring and the fruits of the fields, and you would have more than enough to feed your children and pay for their expenses. It all depends on heeding the Mitzvohs!

It is written "So we cried out to Hashem, and He heard our voice and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression (Devorim 26:7)." In the Pesach Haggadah on the verse "Our labor," Chazal comment that this refers to our "children." There is a famous insight to this, that all that we toil and labor is for our children, in order to feed and clothe them. Hence, we need a solution to this saga! Therefore, we look to our Parsha and we find the solution and a guarantee from Hashem. You will be blessed with children, and your land will be blessed and bear much fruit, to be able to give to your children. With this we can explain what is said in the prayer of Hamavdil on Motzei Shabbos. We pray to Hashem that our offspring, and our money, should be in abundance as the sand has no count. In light of what we said above, the explanation is clear: we pray to Hashem to give us children, and we pray that Hashem will make our money multiply and grow as the sand, and we will be able to give and raise our children!

The Torah gives another strong reward for heeding the mitzvohs: "You shall be blessed above all peoples: There will be no sterile male or barren female among you or among your livestock." This can be interpreted as: all the nations would bless Klal Yisrael. This means that there would not be any hatred from the nations. When Klal Yisrael listed to Hashem, and fear Him, and follow the Torah, the nations look up to the Yidden, and bless them as being the chosen people. Hashem sets aside angels to stand by the sides of those who fear Him. This causes the nations to respect the Yidden. The jealousy and animosity towards the Yid vanishes, and the nations bless them with children and prosperity. This is what the posuk is stating!
