One Action Affects the Whole World

Chassidic Story | December 10, 2025

The Previous Rebbe says that a breath in one place effects the air throughout the world, even in the northern side.

How much more so, our Rebbe says, does every action have a universal effect on a spiritual level. As the Rambam, teaches “One action or thought or word by a person moves the whole world to the side of merit.” Keep in mind, the reward of a mitzvah is not given to compensate us for a good deed but occurs because of that good act. So according to nature a good thing accomplished in one place influences and changes the entire world.

[Mikaitz 5734]

Those of us poor in daas would suggest that in light of the above, our service of simcha on Yom Kippur breaks all barriers for us and the whole world.
