In this week’s Parsha we read about the responsibility which lies upon us and the preconditions for Amalek’s defeat. The Torah tells us that as the Jewish people journeyed, Amalek met them on the way (the word קרך also means cold). Amalek represents feelings of coldness regarding spirituality and holiness. This must be battled with excitement and warmth. Also, a special lesson regarding the significance of Chai Elul.
