Son of Rav Shimon of Yaruslov. Son-in-law of Rav Avrohom Dovid Wahrman of Buczacz. Rav Bunim Mendel succeeded his father Rav Shimon as rebbe of Yaruslov from the year תר"י. Like his father, he was a tall, striking figure. He was active in communal affairs and in תרמ"א, he was appointed president of the Yaruslov branch of Machzikei HaDas.
He davened in his father’s shul which was known as “Rav Shimon’s kloiz.” He was a great composer and a renowned baal tefillah, gifted with a beautiful voice. Both his father’s chassidim and the Chozeh’s chassidim who lived in Galicia were his followers.
His son Rav Shimon succeeded him as rebbe in Yaruslov. His daughters and sons-in-law where: Rav Ephraim Tzvi Leventhal, married to his daughter Rivka; Rav Ahaon Wahrman of Buczacz, the husband of Pessele; a daughter married to Reb Yisroel Langner; and a daughter, Elka Reizel, who married Yaakov Meir HaLevi Shleperig, a fervent Belzer Chassid (he welcomed Rav Yissacher Dov of Belz, Rav Aharon of Belz and Rav Pinchos of Ostila as his guests in his home in Yaruslov).
He passed away on the 15th or 16th Elul 1888 (תרמ"ח); others say it was 1890 (תר"ן), and was laid to rest in his father’s ohel in Yaruslov.
