שמות ל ,יח: וְׁעָשִּיתָ כִּיוֹר נְׁחֹשֶת וְׁכַנוֹ נְׁחֹשֶת לְׁרָחְׁצָה וְׁנָתַתָ אֹתוֹ בֵּין־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵּד וּבֵּין הַמִּזְׁבֵּחַ וְׁנָתַתָ שָמָה מָיִּם:
The laver, which contains water, is juxtaposed to the giving of donations for the Mishkan to teach us the lesson mentioned in the Gemara Taanis 8b, that if people pledge charity and do not fulfill their pledge, drought ensues.
