We learn this week about monetary law. Speaking of money, does anyone have any contributions to make? (Just joking). In Novardok they said: "Ata vichartanu, gelt, m'kol ha'amim, gelt, ahavta osanu, gelt, ..." In other words, money money money is what dominates the subconscious of so many people. Why? Because adam (man) is looking for value, to be "worth" something. But the truth is that you could fill up your safes with millions and billions of gold and silver bars...and be as depressed as ever. The only way to ever truly be happy, says the Shomer Emunim, is through emuna and bitachon, through simply living with Hashem. Money can’t bring a person anywhere in life, rather just Hashem. We'll conclude here with the holy words of the Chofetz Chaim z"l (Ahavas Chesed 2:13 in the haga'ah), who says that every dollar you spend on a mitzva, whatever that mitzva may be, Hashem pays you back double. What an investment opportunity!
Story:
Rebbi Yisrael Salanter z"l (who's yartzeit is/was Thursday, the 25 of Sh'vat) was beyond great, and was "the next level". He lived in a higher world, thanks to his many hours of hisbonenus (self-introspection) and mussar b'hispaalus (repetition of "positive mantras" with a niggun, tune), together with his vast knowledge of the Torah. He had a strong foresight for the future, as well as a keen sense of what the dor (generation) needs, and what will bring them to have a happier and healthier connection with Hashem. May his memory be for a blessing.
