ו' סיון, the first day of Shavuos, the Baal Shem Tov was niftar. Standing around him were his hailiger talmidim. He spoke to them out loud, speaking very deep Torah, and told them an explanation of the Seder Avoidah, and he instructed them to say ויהי נועם.
He told his talmidim that when he would be niftar both clocks that hung in his room would stop working. That’s what happened, and when he was niftar the talmidim saw his neshomoh leave his body with a מיתת נשיקה (a death with a kiss from Hashem, so to speak), with a flame of fire the color of תכלת.
They buried the Baal Shem Tov on the second day of Yom Tov, ז' סיון, in the cemetery of Mezhibuzh. They established there a place for תפילה for the public. All the Karliner tzaddikim went there without shoes, because of the kedushah of the place. That’s also what the chassidim do when they go to the hailiger tzion of the Baal Shem Tov.
The hailiger Bais Aharon, the Alter Rebbe, zechusoi yagain alainu, left Karlin twice for Shavuos and traveled to Mezhibuzh to spend the Yom Tov there. He said, הַר הָאֱלֹקים חֹרֵבָה, “the mountain of G-d, to Chorev” (Shemos 3:1), means Mezhibuzh, the place where the hailiger Baal Shem Tov had his משכן ה', and from there spread תורת החסידות. There is his hailiger resting place.
When the Bais Aharon was in Mezhibuzh, he daavened the first night of Shavuos in the Bais Hamedrash of the Baal Shem Hakadosh, zechusoi yagain alainu. The place the Alter Rebbe stayed in was the house of the Rebbe Reb Boruch Mezhibuzher, zechusoi yagain alainu. He daavened Shacharis the first day of Yom Tov in the Bais Hamedrash of the Rebbe Reb Boruch, ztzuk’l.
The Bais Aharon daavened early, at 8:00, unlike the time he daavened the rest of the year.
Motza Shavuos was a few hours before seven full days since the molad of the moon. The moon was also slightly hidden by a light cloud, but the Alter Rebbe did not want to pass up being mechadesh the levanah in Mezhibuzh, so he overlooked this and said Kiddush Levanah.
