Friday Evening, 1 Tishrei, September 15

Candle-lighting time is 7:07 p.m.

  • The two Brachot are: Baruch...L'hadlik Ner Shel Shabbat Veshel Yom Hazikaron followed by the Shehechiyonu blessing.
  • If a man lights the candles, he should not recite the blessing of Shehechiyanu as he will recite this during Kiddush.
  • One who needs a pre-existing flame from which to light candles on the second night should light a 24-hour candle before sundown. A woman who is lighting should light the 24-hour candle this before the regular Shabbat/Yom Tov candles.
