(Some say the Yahrzeit is on the 1st of Tishrei)
Served as Av Beis Din of Stavnitz-Pintshuv, Author of Kesser Kehunah.
Rav Avrohom Yitzchok, the son of Dov Beirish, had illustrious ancestors on both sides of the family. From his father’s side, he was descended from the Shach. From his mother’s side, he could trace his lineage back to Rav Yitzchok of Posna, Rav Shaul Wohl and the Maharam of Padua.
In addition to being a well-respected gaon with whom many corresponded, he was also known to be extremely pious and humble.
His son-in-law, the author of Shem Rokeach, eulogized him. In his hesped, he described the great pain and sufferings his father-in-law had endured.
His son was Rav Dov Ber Katz, Av Beis Din of Rakov.
Rav Avrohom Yitzchok passed away on 1 Tishrei (some say 2 Tishrei) in the year 5569.
