Rav Shaul Breish (Tishrei 27, 5780 / 2019 - 5th Yahrzeit)
In his youth he learned in Chevron, Yerushalayim, and afterward in Belz. He married the daughter of Rav Yechiel Benedikt of Bnei Brak and studied in Kollel Chazon Ish after his marriage. Later, under his father’s guidance and direction, he founded the Kollel Chelkas Yaakov in Bnei Brak, where the deeply profound shiurim he gave the talmidim were well known for their brilliance and clarity.
When his father, Rav Mordechai Yaakov, asked him for his help in leading the kehilla, as he was weaker and older already, he moved to Switzerland, and with his father’s passing he inherited and assumed the mantle of leadership in Zurich.
His condition grew worse over Chol HaMoed Sukkos and he was niftar at the age of 87. His teshuvos in Halocha are published as Shu”t Sheilas Shaul.
