Rav Yitzchok Meisels Head of Eida Chareidis (Tishrei 27, 5609 / 1848 - 176th Yahrzeit)

Rav Yitzchak Meisels the son of Rav Tzvi Hirsch was the younger brother of Rav Uziel Meisels, author of Kerem Shlomo and Etz Hadaas Tov.

He was a disciple of Rav Elimelech of Lizensk, Rav Mordechai of Neshchiz, the Chozeh of Lublin and Rav Yisrael, the Kozhnitzer Maggid.

He served as Rav of Tzuzmir and, after his brother passed away in 5546 (1785), although he was very young, Rav Yitzchak was chosen to succeed him as Rav of Neustadt (Novi-Dvor), near Krakow. He served in this position for some sixty-three years, living until a ripe old age.

Rav Yitzchak published his brother’s sefer, Kerem Shlomo, together with his own footnotes and glosses under the title Zer Zahav.

His sons were Rav Uziel Shmarya, Av Beis Din of Skranvitz; Rav Tzvi Menachem, Av Beis Din of Pilov, Fartzov and Neutstadt; Rav Nosson Meir; and Rav Eliezer Shalom, Av Beis Din of Pietrokov.

Rav Yitzchak passed away on the 27th (or 28th) of Tishrei, 5609 (1848).
