The Avodah of Birurim and the Role of Yaakov and Yisroel

Now this can be applied to a person’s own Avodah. The general Avodah of a person on this earth is the Avodah of Birurim to refine the world. When the world was created the world was created complete and therefore the Possuk states: אֵלֶה תוֹלְׁדוֹת הַשָמַיִם וְׁהָאָרֶץ בְׁהִבָרְׁאָם “These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created” and the word ‘Toldos’ is written in its complete form with two Vovs to testify that the world was created complete.

This is so because at that time there was only holiness in the world or things that served holiness. Even the original serpent our sages in the Talmud depict as a great ‘servant’. However, after the known sin the world descended from its level and caused to bring about the existence of the other side that needs to be refined in Avodas Habirurim.

This is the Avodah of the state of ‘Yaakov’ the letters ‘עֵקֶב - י’ that a Jew needs to descend and pervade the state of ‘heel’. That it shall be אֹהָלֶיךָ יַעֲקֹב that Yaakov shall be the master over the ‘Ohel’. Whereas the Avodah of Yisroel ‘לִי רֹאש ’ is operating within ‘Kedusha’ itself.

In general, this is the difference between the days of the week and Shabbos day (As is explained in Likkutei Torah in the section for this week) that in the weekday there needs to be an Avoda of Beirurim with mundane matters, which is why it is called a temporary ‘Ohel’, and this because this Avodah is only a temporary Avodah for Yisroel because it is not [yet] their real place. The Avodah of the state of Yisroel is on Shabbos Kodesh which is holy on [intrinsically] its own because this is their place as they are a holy nation.
