Vizhnitzer Rebbe Honors Chabad Shluchim from Ukraine

The Jewish Weekly | June 27, 2025

As has been widely publicized, Chabad shluchim (emissaries) in Ukraine have been on the front lines, providing life-saving assistance to those struggling to survive the war.

In acknowledgment of their work, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, R’ Yisroel Hager of Bnei Brak, personally invited Chabad shluchim who escaped from Ukraine to a personal simcha.

At the Sheva Brachot celebration for his grandchild’s marriage, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe honored the shluchim who heroically saved lives since the Russian invasion in the country.

Present were Zhitomir’s Chief Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, Nikolaev’s Rabbi Sholom Gotlieb, Vinniza’s Rabbi Shaul Horowitz and Rabbi Moshe Weber of Dnipro. Joining the group was businessman Chaim Yankel Lebovits.

Rabbi Wilhelm, whose arrival to Israel with children from his orphanage was nationally publicized, spoke about the current situation in Jewish communities and challenges they face. The Vizhnitzer Rebbe, who merited to meet the Lubavitcher Rebbe and has also visited Jewish communities in Ukraine, responded with admiration. He praised the dedication and self-sacrifice of the shluchim.
