מהר"י שטייף – 3:6 “ויאמר אנכי אלקי אביך אלקי אברהם אלקי יצחק ואלקי יעקב. ” – “And He said: I am the G-d of your father, the G-d of Avrohom, the G-d of Yitzchok, and the G-d of Yaakov.” It says in Shemos Rabbah 3:1 that when Hakodosh Boruch Hu spoke to Moshe, He spoke to him in the voice of Moshe’s father. The purpose in this was to strengthen Moshe’s Emunah that he inherited from his father, Amram, who was one of four who died due to the bite of the Nachash, and not due to their own sins. It was through the great Emunah that Moshe had from his father that he was Zoche to have Hashem revealed to him. The Posuk says, “ויבא אל הר האלקים חורבה” – Moshe Rabbeinu saw the mountain of Hashem; he saw that the Emunah in Hakodosh Boruch Hu was, “חורבה” – was destroyed – was not standing. Meaning that there were very few who had strong Emunah in Hakodosh Boruch Hu at that time. At that time, the children of Avrohom, Yitzchok, and Yaakov, were in Golus Mitzrayim. There were those who questioned, where was Hakodosh Boruch Hu’s strength, and where was His awesomeness? They Chas V’sholom, were unsure as to where the Midas Harachamim of Hakodosh Boruch Hu was, for where was He when all these bad things were happening to them? Hakodosh Boruch Hu showed Moshe in a Nevuah that although Klal Yisroel are surrounded by fire on all sides, are experiencing very harsh afflictions, and are on a very low level of Ruchniyos – just like the S’neh is the lowest of all trees, they must know that it is all from Hashem. Mitzrayim was a place that Hakodosh Boruch Hu placed Klal Yisroel so that they should be purified, and thus be worthy of being the Chosen Nation, the nation to receive the Torah Hakdosha – the purpose of the creation of the world. Klal Yisroel are the עם קשי עורף – they are stiff necked – they do not look around – rather they retain their deep and strong Emunah in Hakodosh Boruch Hu, no matter what the circumstances. Klal Yisroel needed to go through Mitzrayim in order to achieve this level of Emunah. The Gematria of הסנה is the same as סני , as a Remez that the burning thornbush was all for a purpose, for סני , so that Klal Yisroel could receive the Torah Hakdosha at סני . It was because Klal Yisroel went through the hardships of Mitzrayim, that they went through the fire, “והסנה אננו אכל ” – that they would never be consumed – rather they would then live for eternity.
