Practical Judaism Bring More Children into the World

Practical Judaism → Bring More Children into the World

When Pharaoh decreed that the Jewish baby boys be thrown into the Nile, Amram, leader of the Jewish People, separated from his wife. He felt that there was no purpose in having more children if they would be thrown into the Nile. His daughter, Miriam, told him that his decree was worse that Pharaoh’s, because this would prevent both boys and girls from being born. He listened to her, remarried his wife, and they had a son, Moshe, who grew up to save the Jewish People!

The Jewish women in that time had faith in G-d and continued to have children despite the decree. And G-d miraculously kept them alive and took care of them, nourishing the babies with rocks that they sucked honey and oil from. Later, they were the first to recognize G-d at the splitting of the Red Sea.

We learn from them not to make calculations about whether it is a good time financially to have another child, but rather to trust in G-d who commanded us to “be fruitful and multiply” and will surely provide for every child.

Having more children brings the Redemption through Moshiach!
