The Rambam

Living Moshiach | January 09, 2026

The 20th of Teves is the Yahrtzeit of the Rambam (the great Rabbi Maimonides). He brought Redemption into Egypt, both literally and figuratively. While he lived in Egypt, he compiled his book that gathers all the laws of the Torah from all over the Talmud into one book. This brought a redemption from the difficulty in understanding the laws that existed before this book. The book also includes laws that apply in the Redemption through Moshiach, such as laws that apply when there is a Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple). And the last two chapters of the book are all about the coming of Moshiach!

The Rambam guided Jews around the world in his time, and his book and other writings continue to guide the Jewish People now too!

Everyone should join or strengthen their participation in the study-cycles of the Rambam’s book – three chapters a day, one chapter a day, or the Book of Mitzvos. And we should all especially make sure to study the Rambam’s Laws of Moshiach!

(See talk of the Lubavitcher Rebbe King Moshiach Shlita, Shemos 5752 (1991))
