Rabbi Michael Taib, a prominent Chabad chassid and mashpia (spiritual mentor) from Kfar Chabad, was manning a tefillin booth in a big shopping mall in Ashdod, when a mother and son approached, saying that they were saved from the massacre in Kfar Aza.
The mother and son who lived in Kfar Aza approached Rabbi Taib, requesting for the son to put on tefillin and to say the HaGomel blessing, to thank Hashem for the miracle of their rescue from their home on Simchat Torah.
Rabbi Taib told them that his two sons, Mendel and Zalman, are currently fighting in Gaza. Following this, the woman asked their details, and Rabbi Taib showed her a photo of his son Mendel who is a commander in the Rotem Givati Battalion in Gaza.
Recognizing his face, the woman burst into tears, saying, “your son is the commander of the Rotem Givati battalion, which rescued us from our home.”
