There are pasukim in the Torah that are fundamental to our attitudes in various areas of avodas Hashem. In this week's parashah, there is such a pasuk. It states (18:13) אלקיך 'ה עם תהיה תמים, "Be complete with Hashem, your G-d."
The Rabbeinu b'Chayei (18:12) writes, "This means one should be תמים, perfect, in his yiras Shamayim, to do what Hashem commands and to be cautious from that which Hashem forbids. תמים also connotes that one must be in his inside just as he is on the outside, and he should be a tzaddik with his words and with his actions."
So, if we can express the Rabbeiu b'Chayei in our own words, temimus means to be devoted to Hashem (1) with one’s thoughts, (2) with one’s words, and (3) with one’s actions. We will discuss these three realms of temimus:
