This week we read two Torah portions: Tazria and Metzora. Tazria begins by speaking about birth of a boy. This represents the everlasting Redemption through Moshiach. Then the Torah portion continues with the details of Tzara’as, a spiritually-caused leprosy. In truth, the spots of Tzara’as on the skin are lofty spiritual lights that are above revelation, descending into something negative because they are not contained in vessels. In the Redemption they will be drawn down and revealed in vessels, and therefore they will not be available to be sucked into negativity. The next Torah portion, Metzora, speaks about the procedure of purification from Tzara’as. In the Redemption, the true being of the Tzara’as spots – and of exile – will be revealed: that they are lofty lights. When they are revealed below, there is no possibility of negativity. The Redemption will last forever.
