There was a Chossid who would travel to the Heilige Tzadik Rav Yechezkel of Kozmir ZY”A. The Minhog (custom) of the Tzadik was that when one would give him a Kvittel, he would also give a Pidyon with the Kvittel. [This Inyon is mentioned in Sefer Ohev Yisroel in this week’s Parsha]. This Chossid was not of means to bring a coin as a Pidyon. Therefore, he concluded to bring a fish as a Pidyon. As there were no ways to preserve the fish for the journey in those days, the Chossid concluded to catch a fish and tie it to his boat with his Gartel and such transport it to Kozmir. Upon arrival in Kozmir, the Chossid was astonished, as his Gartel tore and he no longer had the fish. With no option he made his way to the Rebbe’s Beis Medrash and sat there reciting Tehillim. Suddenly, the Gabbai comes from the Rebbe’s room and tells the Chossid that the Rebbe awaits him. When he enters the Rebbe’s room, the Rebbe immediately shows him a large fish on his table and tells the Chossid “This is your fish”!
That morning the fishermen went fishing and caught a large fish with a Gartel tied to it. The fishermen concluded, “A fish with a Gartel belongs to the Rebbe”!
Chodesh Nisson is a month תופיקמ וב תועושי רשא salvations encircle it. The Chidushei HaRim would say כחנוני המקיף as a storekeeper on credit. So too every person can take what he needs, even on credit, Adar is the beginning and preparation to Nisson.
As the month of Adar is “Mazal Adar Dogim” The Mazel of Adar is Dogim – Fish, surely in this month it is Mesugal for every person to be bestowed his needs in Ruchniyus and Gashmiyus.
Everyone should be Zoche – Merit to “Catch the fish of their needs.” May we all be Zoche to a Yeshuoh Klolis and Protis (general and specific).
