Should I Stay in My Job That I Don’t Like
Question: I am in a job that pays well, but I dislike. Should I stay, and try to focus on the good in this job, or is it better that I find a new job?
Answer: Doing something you don’t like is not a great thing, so ideally it would be best to try to find another option. However, in the process, don’t burn your bridges with your current job until you find something suitable. If finding a new job is not possible, you can get yourself to enjoy your current job with Tefila. I know someone who didn’t enjoy his job, and he asked Hashem to help him. As a result of his davening, he now loves his job.
So first make sure that there isn’t a better option out there. If there isn’t, you can daven. My wife was working at a job many years ago, but she had to stop, because the commute was more than an hour away from Lakewood. I told her that she will get a better job, and it will be closer to home. I worked on Bitachon for this. Within a few days, I was getting a ride with someone, and in his car, he had Rabbi Pesach Krohn playing on the radio. Rabbi Krohn was saying that sometimes a person loses a job, and then he gets a better one with more pay and closer to home! Within a week, my wife got a new job with better pay and closer to home.
Try your best to be involved in whatever job you are most comfortable doing, and the main thing is to daven.
