What animal can live on just one meal a year?
Scorpions are arachnids, distant relatives of spiders, known for their distinctive pincers and curved, venomous stingers. These ancient creatures were given tools from Hashem to survive some of the harshest environments on Earth. Scorpions can thrive under extreme heat and cold; some can even survive being frozen overnight, thawing out alive the next day. Their unique respiratory system allows them to stay underwater for up to 48 hours. Scorpions can slow their metabolism to survive on just one meal a year if necessary. They can eat a variety of prey, including insects, spiders, and even small rodents and lizards. All scorpions are poisonous, but only about 25 species are potent enough to be dangerous to humans.
