This week in....

5725-1964, the Rebbe shared a story from the Talmud about a Torah teacher for young children who was thinking about his students even while in his garden. The Rebbe explained that the lesson from this story is that educators should be devoted to their students constantly, beyond the hours they are paid to teach.

9 Kislev

5744-1983, the Rebbe pointed out that the Mitteler Rebbe was unique among the leaders of Chabad in that a picture was never made of him and that he published many of his own works during his lifetime. Thus, the Rebbe explained, we do not need a portrait to relate to him; we can “picture” him through studying his teachings. In that vein, the Rebbe reported that one of the Mitteler Rebbe’s books, Shaarei Teshuvah, had just been reprinted, and then delivered a chasidic discourse based on a teaching from that book.

9 Kislev

1. Likkutei Sichot vol. 5 p. 376 2. Torat Menachem 5744 vol. 1 p. 539, 547
