Sefer Yismach Yisroel asks why the Seder begins with “Kadesh” and continues to “Urchatz”. He says that it would seem that Urchatz should be first, as a person must first wash away his sins and only then can he do “Kadesh” and sanctify himself.
He answers that when Hashem took us out of Mitzrayim, He uplifted us from a lowly level to the highest heights. He did not wait until we cleansed ourselves of sin before sanctifying us. So too, every year on Pesach, a person can reach a lofty level even if he did not wash away all his sins beforehand. Hashem provides us with a gift on this day that allows us to do Kadesh before Urchatz.
