G-d revealed a higher Name of Himself to the Jewish People at the Giving of the Torah than the Name that He revealed to the forefathers. But it was due to the forefathers beginning the process that the children received this revelation. At every Jewish wedding, the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents (even those who have already passed on to the world of truth) come to the wedding. At the Giving of the Torah, which is compared to a wedding, the forefathers were present.
Qualities that children have that are greater than their parents come from the parents themselves.
Similarly, the work of the Jewish People throughout the exile brings about the amazingly greater revelations in the Redemption through Moshiach.
