Turning to the Master Himself

A man once came to the Chofetz Chaim zt”l and said that he is coming as a messenger of his friend to ask for a bracha for him. The Chofetz Chaim said sadly, “Oy vavoy! One butcher sends another butcher to obtain a blessing from a third butcher. Isn’t that ridiculous! Wouldn’t it be better to turn the Master himself? The Torah says that he is close to all who call out to Him, so anyone can ask for His help!”
