Avodas Hashem Needs Fire & Chi'yus, Which Will Help You Overcome Enemy Fire
FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE!The Torah forbids us from lighting: אֵש a fire on Shabbos. The Meforshim say that: אֵש fire can mean Ka'as. אֵש Fire can also symbolize a fiery Oved Hashem, and R’ Avigdor Miller Zatzal said that in order to conquer Ta'avos, having a fiery Avodas Hashem can do the job. Fight fire with fire! Most of our fire in Avodas Hashem comes from Hashem, similar to what Chazal say: אַף עַל פִּי שֶאֵש יוֹרֶדֶת מִן הַשָמַיִם מִצְוָה לְהָבִיא מִן הַהֶדְ יוֹט יומא כא ב the fire comes down from Shamayim. So don’t feel bad if you’re missing “fire” or Chi'yus (life) or Laibedikeit (liveliness) or Ratzon or motivation; since it’s all Tefila that causes these Maalos, and anyone can daven. And don’t be jealous, since it’s all Koach HaTefila. All those Gevaldige Ovdim and Tzaddikim got there through Tefila, AND SO CAN YOU!!!
With this approach, we can explain the conclusion of above Chazal: אַף עַל פִּי שֶאֵש יוֹרֶדֶת מִן הַשָמַיִם מִצְוָה לְהָבִיא מִן הַהֶדְ יוֹט יומא כא ב Even though the fire on the Mizbeach came down from Shamayim, we must bring a humanly produced fire as well: “Even though your: אֵש fire in Avodas Hashem is from Hashem (i.e., your Tefila), nevertheless, push yourself (humanly produced fire) to make it even better”. The Chazon Ish said that he was: עָמֵל toiled in Tefila that he should learn well, even more than he was: עָמֵל toiled in Torah. Remember! Davening can bring you everything! Be persistent, despite the feelings that your Tefila isn’t really working. הָעַקְשָן יַצְלִיחַ The stubborn will be Matzliach!
