Reb Uri of Strelisk ZY”A, would follow and emulate the Derech (way) in Avodas Hashem, as he learnt from his great Rebbe Reb Shloima Karliner ZY”A. Reb Shloimoh put a great emphasis on Davening with “Kol” (loud voice) and “Hislahavus” – enthusiasm....
Reb Menachem Mendel of Kossov ZY”A, was a brother-in-law of Reb Uri, and he once came to visit the Strelisker. As the two great Tzaddikim were conversing in the Beis Medrash of Reb Uri, Reb Mendel Kossover took note of the dire conditions of the Chasidim (followers) of Reb Uri. The Kossover made mention of this to his brother-in-law the Strelisker and asked, “Why are you not Mashpia (bestow) Parnossoh and Ashirus to your Chasidim?” To this the Strelisker answered, “Let us see what they want.” Stating so he called over a Chossid whose monetary condition seemed needy and asked him, “What do you want?” The Chossid answered, “I want the Rebbe’s Boruch She’omar!” [which was said with great tone, length, and enthusiasm]. (See upcoming story of the Beis Aharon). Exclaimed the Strelisker to his brother-in-law, “You see what they want!”
A guest once visited the Beis Medrash of the Beis Aharon of Karlin ZY”A, The Chazon had just started “Boruch She’omar, with great tone and enthusiasm, with the Tzibbur (congregation) following suite. When the visitor finished Boruch She’omar, he waited for the Chazon to conclude, but after a lengthy wait he figured that the Minhog (custom) is that the Chazon does not make recitations, rather, all Daven together. And so, he continued until the end of Pesukei DiZimroh, as surely he would conclude there. Surprisingly, all of a sudden, he hears the Chazon conclude “Yochid Chei Ho’Olomim...”, the conclusion of Boruch She’omar. Such was the Avodas HaTefilloh of the Karliner Cheder. May we strive and attain the great virtues of great Rebbes and Chasidim ZY”A, Omein.
