Yaakov lived in the land of Mitzrayim etc. (47:28)
Yaakov is Meramez - hints to the Midoh of Emes – conduct of truth, as it says תתן אמת ליעקב. With the Midoh of Emes one can live through all hard times and difficult situations.
Chidushei HaRim – Der Torah Kvall
'וכו בֹקֲעַיְל תֶמֱא ןֵתִּתּ 'וגו םִיַרְצִמ ץֶרֶאְבּ בֹקֲעַי יִחְיַו
Yaakov Avienu lived in Mitzrayim (Egypt) etc. We also know that the Midoh (trait) of Yaakov Avienu is Emes – Truth, as we say daily in Davening (Prayer) – Give truth to Yaakov etc. The Sefas Emes ZY”A quotes His Grandfather, The Chidushei Harim ZY”A with the following explanation. With the Midoh of Truth a Yid (Jew) can live in all circumstances even in Mitzrayim – Maitzorim, difficulties (same letters – םירצמ) troubles that seem to prevent one from his daily duties as a good Yid.
The Rebbe Reb Bunim of Parshischoh ZY”A explains the Possuk as follows. The qualification for a person who desires to achieve tranquility, he must accept every situation that comes his way. Every situation - good or (seemingly) bad, must be equal in his eyes. If a person acts with this trait, then he will always have tranquility.
Gold and silver are purified through fire. If you feel no sense of improvement after you Daven (pray), either you are made of base metal, or your prayer lacked heat (i.e. enthusiasm).
