And G-d Was Seen to Him

Living Moshiach | December 10, 2025

In this week’s Torah portion, G-d was seen to Avraham as a result of the Mitzvah of circumcision. When the Rebbe Rashab (fifth Chabad Rebbe) was four or five years old, he went in to his grandfather, the Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek, crying and asking, “Why was G-d seen to Avraham and He is not seen to us?!” The Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek answered that when a righteous Jew, at the age of 99 years, decides that he needs to circumcise himself, he deserves to see G-d.

Every Jew gets a revelation of G-d; we inherit it from our forefather Avraham and we continue to do the Mitzvah of circumcision. But we want it to be in a way that we can see the revelation. So we have to be worthy by doing our part. Just like the Mitzvah of circumcision brings holiness into the physical body, we should permeate ourselves and our surroundings with holiness.

In the Redemption through Moshiach, there will be the ultimate revelation and seeing of G-d. Moshiach already exists and is already revealed. Now we just need to accept Moshiach!
