Being Happy and Satisfied Right Now

The Rebbe's Pharmacy | December 31, 2025

Through this, we can be happy today, and not say that tomorrow I’ll do teshuvah and be satisfied in avodas Hashem. We shouldn’t feel as if we’re always missing something. Perhaps we didn’t finish Shas today, but we did learn a daf, so we should be very pleased with that. Maybe we weren’t able to pour out hearts to Hashem in hisbodedus for a full hour today, but we took thirty minutes to try to connect more deeply to the Master of the Universe, and that is extremely precious to Him.

With this approach, we can increase our attachment to avodas Hashem without getting nervous or depressed. We can take on new things without losing ourselves and getting overwhelmed. We can hold onto our yishuv hadaas and enjoy filling our lives with learning, davening, and mitzvos. We can be normal as we reach higher levels of kedushah.

This is the amazing wisdom that Rebbe Nachman reveals in this sichah: “A person shouldn’t get overwhelmed by trying to grab everything at once. Instead, he should go slowly and steadily, bit by bit, and not get overwhelmed and confused because he wants to fulfill and grab everything at once, which causes him to get totally mixed up.”
