The Holy Words of the Tzaddikim

The Rebbe's Pharmacy | December 08, 2025

Question:

How can I practically live with these paths of chizuk and hisorerus together?

Answer:

The key is to attach ourselves to tzaddikim and learn their sefarim. We also have to discuss their lessons with our friends (as will be explained at length later on). Learning the sefarim of tzaddikim is essential, because they show us how chizuk and hisorerus work together. Their powerful words pierce our hearts of stone, inspiring us to aim higher, grab every available moment for Torah, tefillah, and good deeds, while working on our love and awe of Hashem and deepening our awareness of Him. Their simple, clear messages motivate us to actualize their teachings.

At the same time, there isn’t a single expression of hisorerus in their sefarim that breaks our hearts. They keep us focused on Hashem’s love for us and the sweetness of Hashem’s Presence in our lives.

It’s a wonder how perfectly the words of Rebbe Nachman and Reb Nosson blend hisorerus and chizuk in a way that’s certain to help us come closer to Hashem at all times. They all revolve around the same core concepts: emunah and deep connection to Hashem.

Sometimes, our avodah is to focus more on searching for Him. At other times, we should emphasize that His Presence fills all of Creation. Regardless, we should wake up from our sleep and come closer to Hashem.
