Bereishis Rabbah on the Valley of Chevron

בראשית רבה – 84:13 “והשיבני דבר וישלחהו מעמק חברון” – The Posuk says, “מעמק חברון ” – from the valley of Chevron, but Chevron is situated on a mountain. Is it a mountain or a valley? Rebbe Acha said that the Posuk is intimating that Yosef went to fulfill that profound decree that Hakodosh Boruch Hu placed between Himself and the worthy companion who was buried in Chevron, as the Posuk says, “ועבדום וענו אותם” – “And they will serve them, and they will oppress them.” (Yaakov sending Yosef to the brothers, resulting with Yosef being sold down to Mitzrayim, was a Kiyum that Avrohom’s descendants would be slaves in Mitzrayim, and this all started with Yosef going down to Mitzrayim).
