The Choice of Yaakov and the Celebration of Yud Tes Kislev

We can add and point out that the matter of וָאֹהַב אֶת יַעֲקֹב is also connected with celebration of redemption of 'Yud Tes' Kislev, which is 'Rosh Hashonoh' for the Torah of 'Chassidus'. The 'Words of the living G-d'.

For we find that our leaders, our Rebbeim of Chabad, mention the issue of וָאֹהַב אֶת יַעֲקֹב in the Chassidic discourses of 'Rosh Hashonoh' (The Rosh Hashonoh which is not just for the Torah of Chassidus but for all matters specifically for the worlds etc.) and that is because on ‘Rosh Hashonoh’ there needs to be the concept of ׳וֹיִבְחַר לָנוּ אֶת נַחֲלָתֵנוּ אֶת גְאוֹן יַעֲקֹב ג He chooses our inheritance for us, the pride of Yaakov etc.'

Free choice is only a free choice when choosing between two identical things, and one of them is chosen not for any logical reason or other external factor (for then it would not be a choice).

However, with free choice which is what the Possuk is referring to when it says: הֲלוֹא אָח עֵשָו לְיַעֲקֹב “is Eisov not a brother to Yaakov” and nevertheless וָאֹהַב אֶת יַעֲקֹב “I loved Yaakov” specifically for this is the choice in Yisroel.
