Al Yad Ish Ben Partzi

Peninim on the Torah | December 07, 2025

על יד איש בן פרצי
Al yad ish ben Partzi
By the hand of the man, the son of Peretz.

The awakening of the nation which had previously been victims of centuries of exile, an awakening that is expressed through its victories over its enemies, both external and within themselves, ultimately finds expression in the ish ben Partzi. This is reference to a specific individual gifted with unusual qualities who embodies within himself the life and destiny of the entire Jewish people. This extraordinary individual is none other than Moshiach Tzidkeinu, descendant of David HaMelech who descended from Peretz ben Yehudah, hence the name Partzi. We may add that Partzi is related to Peretz, to spread out, break through. Moshiach will do whatever he deems necessary to lead Klal Yisrael in their Divinely designated conquests. He will break through conventional value systems, and even natural occurences in pursuit of triumph for Klal Yisrael and in disseminating Torah values to a world whose societal norms are antithetical to Torah values.
