- Ten dreams are explicitly recorded in the Torah, three of which can be found in Parshas Vayeitzei. How many of them can you identify?
- In his dream, Yaakov saw a ladder that stretched from earth to heaven, upon which malochim were ascending and descending (Bereishis 28:12). How many rungs did the ladder have?
- In which instances are each of these numbers mentioned in this week’s parsha, 2,2,3,3,6,7,7,7,20?
- In this week’s parsha we learn about the great seudah [feast] that Lavan made when marrying off Leah to Yaakov (see pasuk 29:22). Why don’t we find anything about him making a great feast when marrying off Rochel to Yaakov?
- Rashi (29:11) brings that Eliphaz the son of Eisav was sent by his father to kill Yaakov, and instead of actually killing him, Yaakov appeased him and said, take away all my money instead, and a poor person is considered dead. The question is, we see earlier in the parsha that Yaakov was very strong as he was able to push big rocks off a well, so why was he so scared of Eliphaz, why didn’t he simply kill him, like the din is, הבא להורגך השכם להורגו – if one comes to kill you, you may stand up to him and kill him first?
