This Week in Tishrei

Here's my story | June 27, 2025

5737-1976, as the ne’ilah prayer at the end of Yom Kippur was drawing to a close, the Rebbe called for all the children in the synagogue to come onto his raised platform and stand beside him. During the singing of the solemn Avinu Malkeinu (“Our Father, our King”), the Rebbe wept openly. And during the singing of “Napoleon’s March” — a song of victory, traditionally sung at the end of Yom Kippur — the Rebbe waved his arms towards the children, encouraging them to sing with great enthusiasm.
