Although in a regular year one needs to kasher keilim before the chometz eating deadline, this year one may kasher them the entire erev Shabbos, and we aren’t worried that one will get mixed up between one year and the next. The reason being, that strictly speaking there is no obligation to get rid of chometz absorbed inside keilim, and one who wants to kasher keilim during a regular year may do so after the time of biur if he fulfils certain requirements (see siman 452), therefore, this year we lechatchilah allow hagolas keilim the entire erev Shabbos (sefer Erev Pesach Shechal BeShabbos, Perek 7, he’orah 7).
However, there are those who are stringent this year as well and say that kashering should be done before the fifth hour of the day.
Either way, one should stop using any keilim he wishes to kasher, 24 hours before hagolah, to make sure any belias [absorptions] inside the keilim are not considered ben yoimoi (Rema 452:2).
