Voluntary Offerings and the Heart

This explains why the Torah-portion of offerings begins, not with the obligatory offerings, but of (-Rashi, Leviticus 1:2), “Scripture is speaking here of voluntary sacrifices.” Being that it is in the person’s voluntary offerings of his heart, in which it is more clearly expressed that the person is giving his entirety to G-d.
