Rashi says that Yaakov sent real Malachim to Eisav. Why did he Davka send such Chashuva Shluchim (messengers)? We can suggest that Yaakov knew how jealous Eisav was about Yaakov get hold of the Bechora, and Eisav wanted to be boss in general. “I’m on top; not you!” This is always the problem when there is Sin'as Chinam and Kin'ah. So Yaakov showed him the power of being Shomer Torah and Mitzvos. (Rashi 32:5) I kept all 613 Mitzvos, despite living with Lavan, and a person who does Ratzon Hashem can become so great, even greater than a Malach!
Yaakov kept pointing out how his father’s Brachos were not fulfilled (Rashi) but becoming great is up to you! Even without the Koach of the Brachos, a person can become so great, that he can make Malachim his Shluchim (messengers) and: וֹחוּלשְ שֶּל אָדָם כְמֹתוֹ (Kiddushin 42b) A person’s Shaliach is in his stead (and is a Tafel (secondary) to the: חַ לֵשַמְ sender). Indeed, Yaakov overpowered a Malach Yaakov was saying: “Eisav! Why are you bothering with being jealous and hating me for the Brachos?”
“What a waste of time and energy! Just do Ratzon Hashem and you’re way on top, even greater than Malachim!” It’s hard to know the true Pshat in these Parshiyos. But it does appear that during this meeting of Yaakov and Eisav, Yaakov was sending him Mussar messages, at least subtly.
Rashi elaborates (32:15) to explain how for each species of animal, Yaakov Davka sent a different ratio of males to females, since every type has different rules and needs. Eisav was famous for his Hefkeirus (lack of control) in Inyanei Arayos. He ran away and kidnapped everyone else’s wife, and he had no rules.
We can suggest that Yaakov was subtly hinting to him Mussar: Look how even animals have rules in their physical habits; what about you? The Slonimer Rebbe Zatzal said that when Eisav asked about Yaakov’s wives and children, Yaakov ignored the question about the wives and answered only: הַיְלָדִּים אֲשֶּר חָנַן אֱלֹקִּים אֶּת עַבְדֶּךָ (33:5) “These are the children given to me from Hashem”. Yaakov was telling Eisav not to be involved in the women of others, and instead be a productive person, symbolized by the Mitzva of: פְרוּ וּרְבוּ having children, and not an empty: אִּיש שָדֶּה man of the “field” who goes around all day: טֵבָל unproductive.
We notice again and again how Yaakov keeps telling Eisav: יַעֲבָר נָא אֲדֹנִּי לִּפְנֵי עַבְדוֹ וַאֲנִּי אֶּתְנַהֲלָה לְאִּטִּי לְרֶּגֶּל הַמְלָאכָה אֲשֶּר לְפָנַי וּלְרֶּגֶּל נקבות , ולחמור שהולך בדרך רחוקה שתי נקבות לזכר , ולגמלים שהולכים דרך יותר רחוקה נקבה אחת לזכר.
