בן איש חי 19:2

Gan Hatorah | December 10, 2025

“ויחן שם ישראל נגד ההר” – “And Klal Yisroel encamped there, opposite the mountain.” Before the letters of “הר” are the letters, “קד”; after the letters הר, are the letters, “וש”; these letters spell “קדוש”. This teaches us that being that Klal Yisroel rested in Midbar Sinai, the place of Kabbolas HaTorah, they acquired “קדוש” – Kedusha rested upon them. Hakodosh Boruch Hu called Klal Yisroel with this adjective, as Posuk 6 says, “ואתם תהיו לי ממלכת כהנים קדושוגוי”.

Now we can understand what it means that one who judges properly is as if he becomes a partner in the Creation of the world. The one who judges properly, is upholding the Torah Hakdoshah. We know, that the world was created for the Torah Hakdoshah, and if Chas V’shalom there was no more Torah in the world, there would be no world. Moshe “sat in judgment from morning to night” – means that he actually sat in judgment at some point, but he was learning Torah the rest of the time, so that he can Pasken correctly. Moshe Rabbeinu received the Torah from Hakodosh Boruch Hu directly, and all who received it directly from Moshe Rabbeinu, were on an exalted level, as the Torah from Moshe had a greater effect on them than had they learned it from anyone else. Klal Yisroel knew directly from Hakodosh Boruch Hu that the Torah of Moshe was one hundred percent authentic, and thus they were prepared to wait all day for him. All the while, Moshe Rabbeinu was plumbing the depths of Torah, for even one as great as Moshe Rabbeinu, learned and toiled in the Torah Hakdoshah. Certainly we, must seek to learn as much Torah as we can, and keep Chazering so that we know it.
