שמות כ ,יד : לא תַּחְמֹד
The Sforno interprets the commandment “You should not covet” (which is seemingly an unrealistic demand made on a frail person who is subject to desires and jealousies) means: what is another’s should be considered as totally beyond your keen, utterly unavailable, akin to a princess beheld by a peasant. His proof from the verse speaks of the Jews going on their pilgrimages to Yershalayim. He interprets this assurance as meaning that the non-Jews will consider Eretz Yisrael as totally beyond their reach.
