When the Rebbe Rashab was five years old, he visited his grandfather the, Tzemach Tzedek. The Tzemach Tzedek asked the boy “What’s new in your learning?” The Rashab answered that this week is Parshas Yisro-- the giving of the Torah.

The Tzemach Tzedek told the boy that Shavuos was the time of the giving of the Torah. The boy asked, “What is the difference between them?” The grandfather answered that he didn’t know.

The young Rashab exclaimed, “You are the Zaida—you have to know!” The Rebbe Maharash, the boy’s father, was present and indicated to the Tzemach Tzedek that the boy was correct.

The Tzemach Tzedek finally said that in Parshas Yisro the King is in the field while on Shavuos the King is in His palace.
