If the whole story in our parsha is about Bilam, why is our parsha named Balak and not Bilam? The answer is that since Balak came up with the idea in the first place, he gets the blame/credit.

And if that is so with the bad, then for sure for the good. If you come up with a good idea for what your friend could do, you will get the credit for all the wonderful good that results from that idea.
